RIP Derek Marder

It is with great sadness that the club announces the passing of early steam preservationist Derek Marder on the 22nd October.

Derek was a longstanding TVTEC member and former  Committee  member who’s influence, knowledge and love for steam will be dearly  missed.

From the early Andover rallies to the infamous end of season road runs from Derek’s yard, he has been instrumental in keeping steam alive and working and inspiring many young’uns to get acquainted with a coal shovel. Not to mention the many folk his generosity of tools, yard space and knowledge has helped to bring and keep their steam engines going for all to appreciate.

A real character, once met never forgotten chap who we wish a peaceful retirement on the footplate in the sky, RIP Derek.
