Seasons Greetings to you all, I trust that I find you well. I know that I don’t have to state the obvious in that this year has been like no other and our hobby has suffered. None of our rallies have taken place and the Appleford 70th celebration, which the Club was planning to take an active part in, had to be postponed. Our monthly meetings had to be cancelled as there was no way we could conform to Covid rules. The Committee managed to hold one meeting in August under socially distanced rules and came to the conclusion that everything that was planned for the year would have to be put on hold until life resumed some form of normality.
Those members with access to the Club’s website will have seen some of our club members progressing some of their long-term projects. It was particularly nice to see Richard Hawthorne’s Fowler roller, Busy Bee, up and running again after having a new boiler and a major overhaul. I suppose the restrictions of the year mean that Richard has not worn the engine out again already!
At the moment it is impossible to predict what next year will bring. There is hope that the vaccine will allow the return of some form of normality. The TVTEC reaches it’s 60th year in 2021 and we will plan to celebrate it in some way as soon as that is possible.
In conclusion, I would like to wish you all the best Christmas possible under the current circumstances and sincerely hope that 2021 will be a better year for all of us.
